Juanita Beck 83 of Silex passed away July 4, 2007 at St. John’s Mercy Health Care in St. Louis. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 7, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex with Rev. Jim Skinner officiating. Interment will be in the Hawk Point Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.
She was born June 24, 1924 the daughter Victor and Gertrude Pokorney Horst and raised by Gertrude and stepfather Joseph Broz. She was married to Clarence Beck Jr. April 26, 1950 in Bellflower and preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1995. Survivors include two sons Roger E. Beck of Silex and Rick Beck and wife Sandy of Troy; one brother John Broz and wife Bea of Yellville, AK., three sisters Mary Miller and husband Paul of AK., Bobbie Maddux and husband Don of Hermann and Dorothy Broz of Montgomery City; one sister-in-law Catherine Broz of St. Louis; two grandchildren Jena Frye and husband Chad of Ft. Collins, CO. and Rick Beck Jr. of Silex; three great grandchildren Lexi and Hayden Frye and Dakota Beck. She was also preceded in death by three brothers Joe and Frank Broz and Leonard Horst.
Mrs. Beck was raised in Hawk Point with the exception of a few childhood years in Texas. She lived in Scott City from 1962 until 1970 and then moved to Silex where she lived for the rest of her life. She had worked in a garment factory for several years and then was employed at the Silex Nursing Home where she had been an Administrator. Juanita’s family was the delight of her life. She also enjoyed nature, the feeding of birds and squirrels, planting and caring for flowers. She and her husband enjoyed traveling. Juanita also enjoyed reading. She was raised in the Catholic faith.
Pallbearers will be Don Boz, Kent Broz, Mike Maddux, Marilyn Gregory, Mary Miller and Bob Broz.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Hawk Point Cemetery.
