Irene Teresa Bibb, 79, of Bowling Green died Monday, Aug. 17 at the Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the St. Clement Catholic Church with the Fr. Bill Peckman officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Clement Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
Mrs. Bibb was born Oct. 15, 1929 to Joseph Theodore and Mary “Mayme” (Behlmann) Scherder. She exchanged vows with Philip Ray Bibb, Sr. in Spokane, Wash. on June 23, 1951. He survives.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Philip Ray “Buddy” Bibb, Jr. and wife, Peggy of Bowling Green, Clifford Joseph Bibb and wife, Diane of Bowling Green, William Burks Bibb and wife, Nancy of Austin, Texas and Charles Michael Bibb and wife, Rose of Prairie Village, Kan.; a daughter, Patricia Sue Adams and husband, John of Columbia, Ill.; one brother, Edward Scherder of Bowling Green and two sisters, Agnes Gaw of Bowling Green and Evelyn Butler and husband, Dick of Vandalia along with 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Bibb; three brothers, Wilmer Scherder, Clarence Scherder and Leonard Scherder and two sisters, Florence Korte and Ruth McDannald.
Mrs. Bibb was a life long resident of Bowling Green serving her family as a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She belonged to the St. Clement Ladies Sodality and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #5553 . Much of her time was spent cooking and baking for her loved ones and enjoying time with her grandchildren along with her many friends and family.
Serving her as pallbearers are Paul Scherder, David Korte, John McDannald, Bonham Bibb, Jack Bibb and Jeff Scherder. Honorary pallbearers will be all 15 of her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to the St. Clement School and Cemetery.
