Les Brown

Les Brown age 81 of Bowling Green passed away Saturday March 7, 2009 at his home.
 
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with John Veach officiating.  Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Bowling Green with Military Graveside Rites conducted by VFW Post #5553 and the Missouri Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

He was born January 8, 1928 in Grand Island, Nebraska, the son of Leslie Emerson and Marie Fuller Brown.  He married Dorothy Jeffery on September 30, 1951 in Koshkonong, MO.  She survives.  Also surviving are two daughters Kimberly Elliott Pistner and husband John of Morristown, N. J., Kristen Brown Kubit and husband David of Irvine, CA.; grandchildren Chase Elliott, Blake Pistner, Jeffrey Kubit, Spencer Kubit and Oliver Kubit.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Les graduated from high school in Eminence in 1946.  He served in the U. S. Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict.  He worked for the Forestry Division of Missouri Department of Conservation in Eminence.  He then served as a Conservation Agent in the counties of Washington, Lincoln and Crawford.  While in Crawford County, he became the District Supervisor and then moved to Pike County in 1970 where he continued as a District Supervisor.  Les retired from the Department in 1989 after 41 years of service.  Following retirement, Les and Dorothy traveled and enjoyed hunting and fishing together.  He was an accomplished wood carver and craftsman with duck carving being his favorite.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chase Elliott, Jeffrey Kubit, Ike Lovan, Paul Hill, Harold Cannon and Norman Kaden.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Stumbaugh, A. J. Scherder, Joe Lewis, Pet Lea and Terry Scherder.
