Beatrice Irene Robinson Clinging, age 88 of Bowling Green, passed away February 19, 2009, in Edgewood, at the home of her granddaughter Paula Cain. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 21 at the Edgewood Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Barnhart and Rev. John Birkhead officiating. Burial will be in the Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
She was born December 29, 1920 in Winfield, MO, the daughter of Forest Bryan and Eva Palmer Smith. She married Charles P. Robinson in August 24, 1940, he preceded her in death on March 20, 1968. She later married Hershel Clinging on April 2, 1976, he also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Charles Eugene Robinson and wife Florence of Bowling Green, David William Robinson and wife Janice of Bowling Green; brothers Linden Smith and wife Virginia of Louisiana, Lewis Bryan Smith and wife Janet of Bowling Green, Forest E. Smith and wife Charla of Independence and David L. Smith and wife Sandy of Frostproof, FL; sisters Floy Mae Neikirk and husband Billy of Eolia, Lucille Stokes of Bowling Green; brother-in-law Thomas Murphy Jr. and wife Mary; grandchildren Steven Robinson and wife Vicki, Paula Cain and husband Mike, Robyn Brown and husband Dan; great grandchildren Toni Walker and husband Shaun, Hilary Robinson, Taylor Johnson and wife Stephanie, Abby Brown and Alexis Brown; great great grandchildren Delaney Johnson and Addyson Johnson; step great grandchildren Heather Larenson, Amber Larenson, Megan Larenson, Jake Cain and Bonnie Cain. She was preceded in death by one sister, Loice Murphy.
Irene lived on the Robinson family farm in Edgewood her entire married life until she moved into the Bowling Green high rise in 2002. She had worked as a Seamstress for Bobbie Brooks in Bowling Green, worked as a CNA at Maple Grove Nursing Home and Louisiana Nursing Home in Louisiana. She worked as a house parent for Ruth Jensen Village until her retirement. She was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church since 1940, where she was the church pianist from 1940 until 1990, and also taught Sunday school in the children’s department. She was a member of the Nightingale Chapter of Eastern Star for 65 years, “The Birthday Club” and Rebekahs. She enjoyed crocheting doilies for gifts in the many birthday/anniversary cards she sent out over the years, embroidering for her families quilts, and knitting afghans.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Robinson, Mike Cain, Dan Brown, Taylor Johnson, Jake Cain and Shaun Walker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be nephews Mark Stokes, Lyle Stokes, Lewis A. Smith, Jerry Smith, Kenny Smith, Randy Smith, Ronnie Smith and Mike Murphy.
Memorials may be made to the Pike County Home Health and Hospice or the Edgewood Cemetery Association in care of Mudd-Veach Funeral Home 606 W Main, Bowling Green, MO 63334.
