Mabel Cunningham

Mabel Cunningham age 103 of Corso passed away Monday August 27, 2007 at the Elsberry Health Care Center.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 30 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex with Pastor Ed Powlishta officiating.  Burial will be in the New Liberty Cemetery in Corso.  Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born November 11, 1903 in Mill Springs.  She married William Cunningham, he preceded her in death on August 17, 1972.  Survivors include sons Ronald Phelps of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Joe Cunningham and wife JoAnn of Riverton, WY, John Cunningham and wife Judy of Bonne Terre; daughter Trudy Christopher and husband Bob of Lorida, FL; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son William Joseph; one grandson Ronald Phelps Jr.

She grew up in the southern end of the state until the age of 20 when she moved to St. Louis.  In 1947 she moved from the city into Lincoln County. She ran the Corso store for several years.  She was a Methodist by faith, volunteered at the hospital in Troy, enjoyed sewing, quilting and fishing.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Cunningham. John Cunningham, Joe Cunningham Jr., Tom Froidl, Jill Cunningham, and Donald Weatherford.
