Verna Mae Damron

Mrs. Verna Mae Damron, 84, passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2009 at her home in rural Vandalia. 

Mae was born in St. Clement, Missouri on September 23, 1925, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Grote) Koester.  On February 16, 1946 she married Norman R. Damron in St. Clement.   Mae was a home maker most of her life.  She returned to Bowling Green after her husband retired in 1989 and moved to rural Vandalia in 2007 to be c loser to her children.  She was a devout Catholic and donated many hours to the Catholic church.  Mae enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.  She also enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, cooking, and playing cards with her family.

Mae is survived by two sons Richard Damron and wife Pam of Evanston, Wyoming, Darrell Damron of rural Vandalia, and one daughter, Debi Davenport  of Mexico, Missouri, six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband Norman, one brother Herman Koester, 7 sisters, Gesina, Clara, Margaret, Adel, Elizabeth, Frances and Regina.

Visitation will be held at Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green on Friday, February 12th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Funeral services and mass will be held at St. Clement Catholic Church on Saturday, February 13th at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Bill Peckman Officiating, followed by burial at the St. Clement Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, Mae wished donations to be made to Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Koester, Harold Koester, David Koester, Bob Sachs, Bill Sachs and Darrell M. Damron.
