Bettie Jo DeVerger

Bettie Jo DeVerger age 68 of Bowling Green passed away Monday November 9, 2009 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital.  Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. Friday until the time of service at the funeral home.  Services will also be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church in Bourbon with visitation being held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church.  Rev. Gary Green, Rev. Scott Lemasters, Rev. David Land, Rev. Alvin Young and Rev. Frank Welch will officiate.

She was born March 11, 1941 in Berryman, the daughter of Alfred and Nettie Harper Garrison.  She married Randy DeVerger on June 30 1990 in Berryman.  He survives.  Also surviving are one daughter Kim Holmes and husband Michael of Clarksville; four grandchildren Justin Williams and wife Megan, Siobhain Williams, Alexandra Holmes, Joshua Holmes; one great granddaughter Kaydence Williams;  three sisters Mildred Pennock and husband Paul of East Peoria, IL., Delma Garrison of Bourbon and Norma Fowler and husband Calvin of Bourbon.  She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers Edmond, Melvin and Jim Garrison and one sister Claudine Hill.

She was raised in Bourbon then moved to Vandalia where she was supervisor of garment factories for 10 years.  She then became Executive Director of the Vandalia and Bowling Green Housing Authorities for 32 years until her death.  She loved gardening, landscaping, sewing, reading the Bible, listening to music and surfing the internet.  Mrs. DeVerger attended Grace Covenant Church of Curryville.
