Alva A. Dowell 95 of Bowling Green passed away December 1, 2007 at the Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Bowling Green with Rev. Raymond McLaren. Burial will be in the Bowling Green Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home from 4PM until 8 PM.
Mrs. Dowell was born September 1, 1912 in Troy, the daughter of Thomas John and Margaret Louise Gerdeman Bueneman. She grew up in the Troy area and then married Raymond R. Dowell on September 12, 1944. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1977. Upon marriage she lived in the Cyrene and Bowling Green area all of her life. In her early years she worked as a seamstress for the garment factories. She was a member of the First Christian Church and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge #675 of Bowling Green.
Surviving are her son Richard Dowell and special friend Delores Burgemeyer of Bowling Green; two grandchildren Thomas Dowell and wife Corina of Bowling Green and Brittany Dowell of Chandler, AZ.; two great grandchildren Dakota Hipes and Haley Rae Dowell;
one brother Marvin Bueneman and wife Mildred of Troy and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law Sandra Dowell; two sisters Darline Bueneman and Mable Schoeneck and four brothers Elihu, Ora, Julius and Walter Bueneman.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Dowell, Milton Gillean, Danny Grote, Craig Rosenburg, John Warner and Al Wortman.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
