Nancy Edwards

Nancy Gillum Edwards age 79 of Bowling Green passed away March 18, 2008 at her home.  A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday March 25 at the St. Clement Catholic Church with Fr. Wayne Boyer and Fr. Edward Doyle officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Clement Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

She was born January 19, 1929 in Pike County, the daughter of Marion Wells and Myrtle Marie Griffith Gillum.  She married John William Edwards on February 2, 1946, he preceded her in death January 31, 1985.  Survivors include four daughters Vicki Skirvin and husband Kenneth of Louisiana, Joyce Simpson and husband Jesse of Bowling Green, Patty Tophinke of Bowling Green, and Susie Edmond and husband Richard of Frankford; one sister Frances L. Mangus and husband Bob Paul of Walkerton, IN; granddaughter Bridget Feldman, of the home; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Marion-Marie Sharp; granddaughter Christina Edmond; son-in-law Mark Tophinke.

She lived her entire life in Pike County.  Born and raised in the Concord area and later moved to Bowling Green.  She was a member of the St. Clement Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic minister and a lector.  She was also active in Cursillo.  She was a member of the Missouri Nurses Association, Pike County Democrat Club, member and past president of the St. Ann’s Sodality.  She was a board member and secretary of the Post Offenders’ Project, and involved with the W.S.O.  She also served on the Bowling Green City Council.  She loved to travel with her children and grandchildren, being with her family, enjoyed yard work and reading.

Serving as pallbearers will be Sharon Myers, Diana Feldman, Chris Tophinke, Kimberly Zappala, Elizabeth Lear, Janet Lewis, Julie Tophinke and Bridget Feldman.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jennifer Hagar, Teresa Suan and Michael Knollmeyer.

Memorials may be made to the Pike County Hospice, St. Clement Cemetery Association, or Post Offenders’ Project.
