Dorothy Jean Gordy

Dorothy Jean Gordy age 75 of Bowling Green passed away Tuesday May 8, 2007 at her home.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 12, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Karen Blank-Ewell officiating.  Burial will be in the Green Lawn Cemetery in Bowling Green.  Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.

She was born May 2, 1932 in Clark County, the daughter of Charles Stark and Goldie Billington Walker, Jr.  She was married November 27, 1949 in Luray to Harold W. Gordy.  He preceded her in death on October 31, 1992. 

Survivors include three sons Tom Gordy and wife Kathy of Evergreen, CO., David Gordy and wife Dana of Bowling Green, Richard Gordy and wife Barbara of Lawson; two daughters Nancy Thomas and husband Joel of Gainesville, Jean Hanley and husband Martin of Bowling Green; Grandchildren Lisa Jo Gordy, Charles Wayne Nardi, Allison Kay Gordy, Garett Allen Gordy, Angelina Samantha Nardi, Katelyn Lea Gordy, Timothy Harold Hanley; step grandchildren Michael Dale Gordy, Charles Kevin Hudson; step great grandchildren Chandler Michael Gordy, Grant Riley Case, Conor Patrick Gordy, Braedon Alexander Case, Kierra Lynette Case and Mikayla Janae Case; two brothers Jim Walker of Wayland, Bob Walker and wife Marilyn of St. Louis; four sisters Louise Gordy and husband Loyd of Arbela, Margie Webster and husband Roderick of Lewistown, Beth Corum and husband Charlie of Palmyra, Leola Webster and husband Floyd of New London; 

Mrs. Gordy grew up in Clark County Missouri.  She and her husband lived in North Carolina while he was in the Marine Corps.  She moved back to Clark County then moved to Hannibal.  In 1968 she moved to Bowling Green.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bowling Green where she was very active and held various offices and positions.  She was a tax consultant for H & R Block in Bowling Green for 34 years.   She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, hiking.  She also enjoyed gardening and watching birds, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.  She assisted and supported the Boy Scouts.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren including attending their various activities. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Gordy, David Gordy, Richard Gordy, Chuck Nardi, Martin Hanley and Mike Gordy.  Honorary pallbearers will be Joel Thomas, Garett Gordy, Tim Hanley and  Kevin Hudson.

Memorials may be made to the Pike County Home Health and Hospice or to the United Methodist Church.
