H. Robert (Bob) Grote age 75 of Bowling Green passed away Thursday January 25, 2007 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. Karen Blank-Ewell officiating. Military graveside services will be held at the St. Clement Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born July 12, 1931 in Bowling Green, the son of Louis and Virgie Mae Kelley Grote. On October 27, 1962 in Millwood, he married Muriel Marie Colbert. She survives. Also surviving are one son Darren Grote of Bowling Green; three daughters Sandy Grummel and husband Rob, Shelly Grote and Stacie Smith all of Bowling Green; two brothers Bill Grote of St. Louis, Junior Grote and wife Patty of Centralia; five sisters Edna Kent of Bowling Green, Fran Grosvenor and husband Ray of the State of North Carolina, Betty Kordus of Oneida, New York, Martha Higgins of St. Louis and Laura Vogt of the State of California and four grandchildren Tyler Smith, Austin Smith, Connor Grummel, Shelby Grummel all of Bowling Green. He was preceded in death by two brothers Raymond Grote and Johnny Grote and five sisters Garnett Mudd, Dorothy Meyer, Shirley Moran, Hazel Hess, and Grace England.
Mr. Grote was raised and lived in Bowling Green all of his life where he was a grain and livestock farmer. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting activities, especially baseball. He also enjoyed playing cards. He was a member of VFW Post # 5553 and the St. Clement Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made to the Pike County Hospice or to the Cancer Memorial Park.
