Rev. Harry A. Hager Jr. age 74 of Bowling Green passed away Friday March 27, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Memorial services will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday April 2, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bowling Green with Rev. Richard Thur officiating.
He was born September 18, 1934 in St. Louis, the son of Harry Arno Sr. and Jessie Naomi Radke. He married Dorothy V. Erickson on September 3, 1960 at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gary, IN. She survives. Also surviving are one son Michael Hager of Bowling Green; three daughters Karen Hager and special friend Judi Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, Lisa Hager of Troy, IL., Barbara Mathis and husband Robert of Candler, NC; five grandchildren Zachary Hager of Colorado Springs, CO, Bryan and Daniel Berliner and Benjamin and Jacob Mathis all of Candler, NC. He was also survived by one brother Gerald Hager and wife Susan Matych-Hager of Adrian, MI, one aunt Ethel Radke of St. Louis, brother-in-law Ernest Erickson and wife Chelley and three nieces Krista, Betsey and Shari. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ralph Hager.
Rev. Hager grew up in the East Chicago, and Gary, IN. area. He attended Purdue University then graduated from Concordia Seminary in Springfield, IL.with a Bachelor of Theology Degree. He was a member of Beta Sigma Psi Fraternity. Rev. Hager was a minister for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in the areas of LaMoure, North Dakota, Lisle, IL., Grafton and Drayton, ND, Maryland Heights, Warren, MI, New Haven and Vandalia. He served as Circuit Counselor for the churches in North Dakota and also served on the Board for the Lutheran Social Services. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and swimming where he had won medals. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
