Mitzy Higgins age 76 of St. Peters passed away Tuesday September 8, 2009 at St. Josephs Health Center in St. Charles. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex with John Veach officiating.  Burial will be in the Cornerstone Cemetery.  Visitation for Mrs. Higgins will be held from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.

She was born August 21, 1933 in Eolia, the daughter of William and Ella Welborn Walter.  She married Dan Higgins on September 12, 1963 in St. Louis.  He survives.  Also surviving are one son Danny Higgins of St. Peters; four daughters Dana McCarthy and Steve Poggemoeller of Overland, Connie Vogel of St. Louis County, Mary Hussey and husband Rick of St. Johns, Terry Higgins of St. Louis County; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one sister Patsy Bolles of Lake Station, IN.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Robert Higgins; one grandson Eric Brock; two brothers Billy Walter and Marvin Walter and one sister Virginia Christopher.

Mrs. Higgins was raised in Eolia then moved to St. Louis following high school.  She enjoyed cooking, bargain shopping especially garage sales, auctions and flea markets. Her best bargain was her family which she enjoyed spending time with.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Hussey, Steve Poggemoeller, J. D. Brock, Kevin Jackson, Rich Walker and Bob Higgins.

Memorials may be made to the St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
