Charlotte Hiles

Charlotte Hiles age 88 of Mexico, formerly of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday January 9, 2008 at the Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 12 at the First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green with Chris Gamm officiating.  Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green.  Visitation for Mrs. Hiles will be held from 1:00 p.m until the time of service at the Church on Saturday.

She was born October 19, 1919 in Bowling Green, the daughter of Frank and Mary Elizabeth Kirk Kerr.  On June 15, 1947 in Bowling Green, she married Warren C. Hiles.  He preceded her in death in 1973. 

Survivors include one son Alan Hiles and wife Waylene of Mexico; two granddaughters Alene and Anna Hiles of Mexico; two nieces Annice Howard of Mesa, AZ., Kathy Jones of St. Peters and one nephew John Burris of Rolla.  She was preceded in death by one sister Billie Burris.

Mrs. Hiles lived in the Bowling Green area all of her life until moving to Mexico in 1996 to be close to her son due to her health.  She worked at Starks Nursery early in life then had been employed for NECAC and upon retirement continued as a volunteer in the office for the clients.  She had been a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bowling Green where she had taught Sunday School for many years.  She had been a member of VFW Post #5553 Auxillary, Pike County Mineral and Gem Society and Audrain Antique Auto Association.  She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and reading.
