Dorothy Mary Elizabeth Thurston Hutchinson age 96, asleep in Jesus June 25, 2007 at the home of her daughter. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday June 27, 2007 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with the Rev. Richard Thur officiating. Burial will be in the Ashley Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service, (3:00 p.m.) Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born June 18, 1911 in Madison County IL to Oliver and Alma Paul Thurston. She married Elmer F. Hutchinson Sr., he preceded her in death in 1962. Survivors include a daughter Alma Edelen of Bowling Green; three grandsons William Sisson and wife Judy of Louisiana, Roy Sisson Jr. and wife Barbara of Ashley, Charlie Sisson of Lake Ellsinore; one adopted grandson Ben Yoder of Bowling Green; one granddaughter Joyce Perkins and husband LeeRoy of Curryville; four great grandsons Mike Perkins and wife Peggy of Curryville, Terry Sisson and wife Sue of the state in Indiana, Elmer Sisson and wife Christina of Ashley and Roy Sisson III of Ashley; one great granddaughter Stephanie Klott and husband Joe of Curryville; two brothers Marland Thurston and wife Patty of Destin, FL, Ronald Thurston and wife Chris of Bella Vista, AK; three sisters Maxine Ratterman and husband Tom of Kansas City, Norma Williams and husband Ray of Henderson, NV, Carol Baltz and husband John of Fayetteville, AK; three great great granddaughters; three step great-great granddaughters; two step great-great grandsons; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one stepmother Margie Thurston, a son Elmer F. (Bud) Hutchinson Jr. in 1958, one brother Oliver Thurston in 1990.
She was affectionately known as “Little Grandma.” She was a Lutheran by faith. She enjoyed her family, quilting and reading. She enjoyed visiting with her Amish friends, especially Andy and Betty Yoder and Moses Burkholder. Her grandfather Ambrose Thurston was the founder of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers in the early 1900’s.
Serving as pallbearers will be LeeRoy Perkins, Mike Perkins, Roy Sisson Jr., Elmer Sisson, William Sisson and Terry Sisson.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Pike County Home Health and Hospice.
