Allen Joe (Jack) Johnson, age 80 of Louisiana passed away at his home Tuesday, September 29, 2009. A memorial gathering will be held from 12 pm until 2 pm on Saturday, October 3 and the Elks Lodge in Louisiana. Per his request his remains were donated to science and no services will be held.
He was born to Arthur and Iona Wiess Johnson on November 14, 1928 in Louisiana, Mo.
He married Geraldine Hickman of Clarksville on October 18, 1950 and she survives. Also surviving are two sons Andy Johnson and wife Renae of Louisiana and Allen Johnson and wife Terri of Mt. Holly, NC. and one daughter, Adrienne McCandless of Spencer, NC. Grandchildren are Amy Johnson Poyser of Louisiana, Shane Lafferty of Wentzville, Mo. and Melinda McCandless of Spencer, NC. His five great-grandchildren are Delaney, Andrew, and Brody Poyser of Louisiana and Bailey and Lucas Lafferty of Wentzville, Mo. He is also survived by one brother Francis (Pete) Johnson and wife Marilyn of Louisiana and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Louisiana High School in 1946. He served the in the military and after Army Basic Training he attended Officer's Candidate School in Ft. Benning, GA and served as Second Lieutenant at Ft. Riley, KS until his honorable discharge in 1953.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator through AFL-CIO Local #450 in Houston, Texas for 30 years. He was a member of Perseverance Lodge #92 AF & AM for more than 50 years.
