Harold Keeling Kientzy, 89, of Silex, passed away at his home with his family present at 5:30 AM on October 16, 2009. Visitation will be Monday October 19, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Mudd Veach Funeral Home in Silex. Funeral services will be Tuesday October 20 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with John Veach officiating. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Millwood.
Mr. Kientzy was born September 27,1920 in Sterling Landing, Mo., near Elsberry. He was the son of Martin J. and Florence Talbot Kientzy. On April 30, 1949, he married Lucienne J. Van Beek in Millwood and she survives. He is also survived by three sons Warren Kientzy of Silex, Gary Kientzy of Warrenton, and Carl Kientzy of Troy; two daughters Elaine Hines and husband Jerry of Troy, and Delores Lovelace and husband Jack of Marthasville.
Other survivors include 11 grandchildren Lynnette Shelton, Jeremy Kientzy, Vanessa McDaniel, Lily Willenborg, Travis Kientzy, Hanna Kientzy, Emily Kientzy, Natalie Kientzy, Jessica Baugh, Rachel Lovelace and Jennifer Frost; eight great grandchildren Ashley, Alisha, Cody and Courtney Shelton, Caleb Clark, Kayley Willenborg, Annalese Mayer and Carson Baugh; two step great grandchildren Nathan and Grant McDaniel; two great great grandchildren Xavier and Demiya Gillum; one sister Edna Tenholder of Troy, three brothers Elmer Kientzy of Elsberry, Seff (Clarence) Kientzy of Sedalia, and Dale Kientzy of Silex, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild Joshua Lovelace, one sister Marie Gehr, one brother Marcellus Kientzy, one brother-in-law Thomas Gehr, and three sister-in-laws Mary Kientzy, Ruth Kientzy, and Mary lee Kientzy.
Mr. Kientzy was a lifelong resident of the Silex area where he worked as a grain and livestock farmer. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Harold loved the outdoors but enjoyed being with his family most of all.
Pallbearers will be Warren Kientzy, Gary Kientzy, Carl Kientzy, Jeremy Kientzy, Jerry Hines, and Jack Lovelace. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in care of Mudd-Veach Funeral Home, 606 W. Main, Bowling Green, Mo. 63334.
