Loretta Ann Korte

Loretta Ann Korte, 87, of rural Bowling Green, Missouri died Monday, November 24, 2008 at Hannibal Regional Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m.  Monday, December 1, 2008 at St. Clement Catholic Church, with Fr. Wayne Boyer and Fr. Edward  Doyle officiating.   Burial will be in the St. Clement Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 30th from 4-8 p.m. at Mudd-Veach Funeral Home, Bowling Green.

Loretta Ann Korte was born November 8, 1921, the eldest of three children born to William Behlmann and Elizabeth Feldmann Behlmann.  Loretta married Ted H. Korte on November 11, 1944 who survives.  They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.   

After completing 10 years of education at St. Clement School, Loretta worked in St. Louis at the Curtis-Wright Corporation as a wire assembler during the war.   She then married Ted and they became life-long farmers in rural Bowling Green.  Loretta was active in community activities including the St. Clement Ladies Sodality, St. Clement Homemakers Extension Club, and 4-H Leader.  In later years, she volunteered at the Hope Center and helped prepare meals for Meals on Wheels.  She loved to sew, make quilts for her grandchildren and cook.  Loretta and Ted were also members of camping clubs and a dance club making many friends around the country during their travels. 

Loretta was a devoted mother to her three sons Wayne Korte and wife Pam of Montgomery City, Jerome Korte and wife Diana, Vernon Korte and wife Katie, and one daughter Marie Korte, all of Bowling Green, who survive. 

Other survivors include eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Stephen Korte, wife Angi, their children Samantha, Devyn, and Luke of Bowling Green; Carolyn Mullins, husband Michael, their son, Troy of Jefferson City; Diane Korte, her children Tanner and Tressa Burns of O’Fallon, Illinois; Lisa Wieberg, her husband Ryan of Jefferson City; Michael Korte of Bowling Green;  Jennifer Appling, her husband Rob of Maryland Heights, MO; Jackie Feldmann and her husband Doug of Bowling Green; Kurt Korte and his wife Jaclyn of Memphis, TN; Derek Korte of Nashville, TN;  Chris Korte and Jeanna , children Addison, Lilly and Jacob of Philadelphia, PA and Paul Korte of Palo Alto, CA. 

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marcella Twellman and brother Elmer Behlmann.  

Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Stephen, Chris, Kurt, Paul, Michael and Derek Korte. 

Memorials can be made to St. Clement Church, School, or Cemetery Association or to the Pike County Home Health Department.
