Velma Eunice LaRue age 97 of Bowling Green passed away Thursday January 10, 2008 at the Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 12, 2008 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. Dan Peters officiating. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Visitation for Mrs. LaRue will be held from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.
She was born October 6, 1910 in St. Louis, the daughter of Michael and Estella Wagner Girard. On April 18, 1933 at Union, she married Thomas A. LaRue. He preceded her in death December 18, 1985.
Survivors include one son Jerry T. LaRue and wife Sharon of Clarksville, one daughter Mary V. Wheeler and husband James of Bowling Green; four grandchildren Michelle Mattenson and husband Curt of St. Louis, Steven LaRue and wife Becky of Clarksville, Michael LaRue and wife Kristi of Troy, Canessa Sherman and husband Robb of Bowling Green; 12 great grandchildren Ryan and Isabelle Mattenson of St. Louis, Matthew, Brandon, Chelsi and Lauren LaRue of Clarksville, Joshua and Lucas LaRue of Troy, Emily and Ean West and Andelyn Sherman of Bowling Green and Samantha Sherman of Jefferson City; one brother Melvin H. Girard and wife Delores of St. Louis and one sister Dollie M. Girard also of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mary Girard; four brothers Ralph Girard, Ray Girard, Bill Girard and Charles Girard.
Mrs. LaRue moved to Hannibal from St. Louis in 1945. In 1976 she moved to rural New London then in 1989 moved to Bowling Green. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. For many years she taught in the primary department of Sunday School at Immanuel Baptist Church in Hannibal. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Bowling Green. She enjoyed playing the piano.

Serving as pallbearers will be Curt Mattenson, Robb Sherman, Steven LaRue, Michael LaRue, Rick Girard and David Girard.
