Viola M. Long age 95 of Bowling Green passed away Tuesday December 23, 2008 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 27 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. Paul Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Louisville Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Long will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the Funeral Home.
She was born November 18, 1913 in Ferndale, MI., the daughter of Joseph and Stella Shovan Bolday. She was married April 15, 1932 in Angola, IN. to Edmond S. Long. He preceded her in death January 31, 1993. Survivors include two sons Gerald (Jerry) Long and wife Lavena and Gene M. Long and wife Nina all of Bowling Green; 20 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one son Robert Long in 2003 and one daughter Judy Ann Long in 1970.
Mrs. Long graduated high school from Ferndale, MI., then following her marriage she lived in Michigan until purchasing the family farm in 1954 in Louisville where she lived until her death. She had been a member of the Garden Club of Bowling Green and Christian Women’s Fellowship of the Christian Church. She had been a member and Sunday School Teacher of the Louisville Christian Church then became a member of the First Christian Church in Bowling Green. She enjoyed watching and following the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and cared much for people
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffrey G. Long, John Gray, Kathy Gray, Kyle Long, Scott Hunt and Jason Long. Memorials may be made to the Pike County Home Health and Hospice or to the Louisville Cemetery.
