Jack L. McCarthy age 78 of Frankford, passed away Wednesday February 14, 2007 at his daughters’ residence.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday February 19 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bowling Green with Rev. Richard Thur officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Frankford. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
He was born January 29, 1929 in St. Louis, the son of Leo J. and Mildred Laverne Neulist McCarthy. He married Dorothy Frances Knecht on September 24, 1949 in St. Louis. She survives. Also surviving are two sons Ken McCarthy and wife Annette of Frankford, Michael McCarthy and wife Sepa of San Diego, Calif.; one daughter Kathleen Brummond and husband David of Frankford; seven grandchildren Kristen Griego and husband Robby, Kelly Richards and husband Dan, Kevin McCarthy and wife Candy, Seth Brummond, Jennifer Teeter, Janice Teeter and Julie McCarthy; four great grandchildren Justin Griego, Megan Richards, Kayden McCarthy and Isabel Cameron; one brother Donald McCarthy and wife Sherry of Greenville, TX.; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister Laverne McCarthy Levasseur.
Mr. McCarthy was raised and worked in St. Louis until moving to rural Frankford in 1971. He served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII. He was a member of the Marine Corps League – So. St. Louis Detachment #183 Company. He had worked as a cement mason for and was a member of the Cement Mason’s Local 527 in St. Louis. He had also built several homes in the St. Louis and Frankford areas. He was a member of the Pike County Missouri Genealogical Society. He was also a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where he had been a Sunday School Teacher and Elder. Mr. McCarthy was currently serving as the head usher and was very active in every area of the Church. He enjoyed genealogy, maintenance, cutting trees and being on the tractor.
