Gloria Miller-Blackwell age 65 of Bowling Green passed away Saturday March 28, 2009 at Moore-Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Clement Catholic Church with Fr. Wayne Boyer officiating. Burial will be in the St. Clement Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
She was born August 7, 1943 in Mexico the daughter of Cyrus Walter and Julia Widaman Thomas. She was raised in Louisiana then moved to Bowling Green her Freshman year of school at which time was raised by Ben and Julia Ebers. She graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1961 and attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Quincy IL. She was married to Cletus Miller and later married to Jim Blackwell. She worked at Pike Medical Clinic in Bowling Green for 25 years. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, traveling and reading but most of all spending time with children, grandchildren and friends. She was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons Clete Miller of Bowling Green, Daniel Miller of Nashville, TN; one daughter Audra Miller and husband Steve of Louisiana; four grandchildren Jennifer and Ryan Miller of Bowling Green and Dawson and Haylee Miller of Louisiana and one nephew Chad Thomas of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother William (Billy) Thomas.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Thomas, Dr. Phillip Pitney, Ira Basil Oliver, Jeff Miller, Gary Leverenz, Doug Grote, Craig Luebrecht and Benny Teasley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Blackwell, Judy Wells, Fern Grote, Malarie Schuckenbrock, JoAnn Stonebraker, Judy Meade, Ginny Andrews, Emily Ogden and Susie Oberdahlhoff.
Memorials may be made to the Pike County Home Health and Hospice.
