D’Arlene Marie Mudd age 94 of Silex passed away Monday May 10, 2010 at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy.  Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Millwood with Fr. Charles Tichacek officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.

She was born May 21, 1915 in Silex, the daughter of William Everett and Lulu Elizabeth Mudd Shocklee.  On October 9, 1941, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church she married Ralph Edwin Mudd.  He preceded her in death in 1981. 

Survivors include two sons Gary Mudd and wife Barbra of Silex, Howard Mudd and wife Charlotte of Golden, CO; three granddaughters Tracey  Nation of Kennesaw, GA, Sharon Mudd of Decatur, GA, Melissa Mudd of Augusta, GA, Derek Mudd of Englewood, CO, Corey Mudd of Golden, CO; one great grandson Jordan Mudd of Decatur, GA; two sisters Dolores Carboni of Starke, FL, Kathleen Roberts and husband George of Silex; one brother-in-law Joe Roberts and wife Toni of Silex; two sisters-in-law Mary Shocklee of Silex, Ann Flinn and husband Bob of Troy and numerous nieces and nephews.  Preceding her in death were one son Wayne in 1971; her parents; two brothers Marvin Shocklee and Howard Shocklee; one sister Dorothy Roberts and one brother-in-law Henry Carboni.

Mrs. Mudd lived in the Silex area all of her life except for living a few years in St. Louis.  She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Sewing club of Millwood where she made quilts for others and for donation as well as her own personal quilts at home.  She did much voluntary work at St. Alphonsus school and other church related activities.  Mrs. Mudd worked as a beautician from her home and also made cakes for all occasions.   

Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Shocklee, Deren Shocklee, Terry Mudd, Gary Mudd, Gary Peasel and J. B. Langenecker. 

Memorials may be made for Masses or St. Alphonsus School.
