James E. (Jim) Pettey

James E. (Jim) Pettey, age 79, passed away February 23, 2010 at the Country View Nursing Home.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Allum officiating.  Burial will be in the Keith Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born November 9, 1930 in Bowling Green, the son of Robert Lyas and Lena Frances Staton Pettey.    He married Alma Jane Aylor on September 11, 1970.  She survives.  Other survivors include five sons James Robert “JR” Pettey and special friend Leona Ryland of Louisiana, Lawrence “Larry” Pettey and special friend Janet of Victor, West Virginia, Forrest “Frosty” Pettey and special friend Jessie Summers of Eolia, Calvin Pettey of Kansas City, Jeffery Pettey and wife Patricia of Troy; step-son Daniel “Danny” Pettey of Bowling Green; two daughters  Lena Jo Rose and husband Norman Jr. of Mexico, Twalla Milstead of Curryville; four brothers Kenneth Pettey of Vandalia, Bill Pettey of Center, Dave Pettey of Odessa, TX, Lloyd Pettey of the state of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; uncle Hurley Staton; cousin Mary Frances Wangler.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. 

James resided in Pike County most of his life; he was a Baptist by faith and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.  He was a United States Marine where he served during the Korean Conflict.
