Lucy Belle Sullivan age 83 of Troy passed away Friday January 15, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex with Rev. David Rispali officiating. Final disposition will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Silex.
She was born March 10, 1926 in Springfield, MA, the daughter of Herbert Arthur and Clara Penn Cottle Heimburger. On August 21, 1948 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church she married John L. (Mick) Sullivan. He preceded her in death December 19, 2002.
Survivors include two sons Tom Sullivan and wife Lynn of Albany, Ken Sullivan and wife Joy of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters Kathy Mudd and husband Russ of Rolla, Cyndy Rauzi and husband Tom of Round Rock, TX; thirteen grandchildren Sharon Sullivan of St. Louis, Kyle Sullivan of Savannah GA, Clayton Sullivan of Marshall, Julie Mudd of Kansas City, Jennah Mudd of Columbia, Joshua Mudd, Jessica Mudd and Jonathan Mudd all of Rolla, Jack Sullivan and Kate Sullivan of Indianapolis, IN, and Sullivan, Sofia and Clara Rauzi of Round Rock, TX. and one brother Sherm Heimburger of Venice, FL. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and two sons Daniel Joseph and Herbert Michael Sullivan
Mrs. Sullivan lived in Troy from 1940 to 1948. Following her marriage, she moved to a farm near Olney where she lived until 2002. Upon retirement, John L. and Lucy Belle moved to Troy. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the farm until age 53 then she returned to school, graduating at age 55 as an LPN. She then worked as a private duty nurse. She was a member of Silex Community Eureka Club, was a past leader in Olney Blue Skies 4-H and Silex R-I PTO. She volunteered as a reader to school children and volunteered in the adult literacy program. Her hobbies were reading, gardening, genealogy, photography, bird watching, crafting and many other interests.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kyle Sullivan, Clayton Sullivan, Joshua Mudd, Jonathan Mudd, Sullivan Rauzi, Dustin Bulen, Ryan Bird and Jack Sullivan.
Memorials may be made to Nursing Program at Missouri Valley College or to the Lincoln County Area Council on Aging (Meals On Wheels).
