Romania Marie Swarnes age 83 of Ashley passed away Tuesday June 15, 2010 at the Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana. 

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the St. Clement Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Peckman officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Clement Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green. 

She was born June 11, 1927 in St. Clement, the daughter of Herman Luebertus. and Mary Caroline Meuth Bunten.  On June 5, 1948 she married Luke Swarnes.  He preceded her in death April 9, 1992.  Survivors include one daughter Eulavon M. Swarnes-Dudley and husband Larry of Harrisburg; two grandchildren Michael Swarnes and wife Susan, and Brandy Mullen; two great grandchildren Garrett Swarnes and Brooke Mullen; one sister Earlean Hopke and husband Robert of Ashley and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one grandchild Herman Luebertus Rowe; two brothers Elmer Bertke and Glennon Bunten and one sister Julia Feldmann.

Mrs. Swarnes was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church.  She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her garden and yard and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Albert Grote, Roy Sisson, Jr., Bill Orf, Roland (Duke) Orf, Carroll Feldmann and Joe Grote.

Memorials may be made to the St. Clement Cemetery Association.
