Dan Thompson Tucker age 90 of Frankford passed away Wednesday February 10, 2010 at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital in Garden City, MI, while staying with his daughter.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Frankford Presbyterian Church with Dr. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Frankford. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
He was born August 9, 1919 in Frankford, the son of Ervin Albert and Frances Maureen Thompson Tucker. He grew up in Frankford then moved to Bowling Green when his father became Sheriff of Pike County. He then returned to Frankford. He married Helen Iona Guthrie on November 16, 1941 in St. Louis. They were married for 64 years and she preceded him in death August 2, 2005.
Survivors include one daughter Vicki Back and husband Dr. William Back of Bloomfield Hills, MI.; three grandchildren Timothy Back and wife Kari, Ashley Ann Potts and husband Mark, Bradley Back and wife Erin; three great grandchildren Madelyn and Lydia Back and Katherine Potts and one sister Mary Sue Murray of Bowling Green. Also preceding him in death was one sister Lillie Lou Jones.
Following school, Mr. Tucker joined the U. S. Navy where he served eight years in the Submarine Corp. He was on the USS S-36, USS Mackerel and USS Canopus Ships. He was a member of the Frankford Presbyterian Church, served as Treasurer of the Pike County Soil and Water Conservation District for 11 years and was treasurer for Pike-Spencer District for 10 years. He enjoyed baseball and horseback riding. He loved music and was often requested to sing at funerals.
