Laverne Stumbaugh age 68 of Bowling Green passed away Sunday May 13, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday May 16, 2012 at the Bowling Green Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Robert Warren officiating. Burial will be in the St. Clement Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
Laverne was born August 2, 1943 in Bowling Green, the daughter of Frank and Francis Grote Eckelkamp. On May 19, 1962 at St. Clement Catholic Church, she married Jack Stumbaugh. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons Kevin Stumbaugh and wife Rhonda, Jerry Stumbaugh and wife Laura all of Bowling Green; grandchildren Ryan, Fahren, Jordan, Jessica, Nick and Sarah; great grandchildren Meredith, Alexis and Bryson and sisters Romana Grote and Johanna Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Laverne was born and raised in the St. Clement and Bowling Green areas. For 25 years she and her husband owned and operated F & F General Merchandise from 1968 to 1993. She had been a part of the OATS group where she traveled and was coordinator and treasurer. Her hobbies included hunting, fishing and any outdoor activities. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Stumbaugh, Jordan Stumbaugh, Nick Stumbaugh, Rob Johnson, Keith Lawrence and Robert Minor. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Gary Grote, Ronnie Grote, Brian Nelson, Greg Lawrence and Phillip Knight.
Memorials may be made to the Pike County Hospice.
